My 10 yr old daughter wrote on her Mahana School blog : On a quest to find the 7 gifts given to Earth, a young boy learns a lot about life. Tough at times to figure out some of the 7 stories he soon realises why the Angel has given him such a big task.  I like this book because it teaches me a lot about life, I also enjoy reading the great little stories in between!

My 14 yr old son wrote on his Facebook page : Finished The 7 Gifts by John Mellor (my dad). What a book, I really thought it was good and Im not just saying that. Its a book that really makes you think about life. My favourite part was the 1st gift; ‘Custers Last Band’ because it was so unexpected. Well worth a read.

The Moderator at The Book Nook said it: reminded me a lot of The Alchemist or The Little Prince. … quirky …, very strange little stories that each have a hidden theme that all tie together in the end.  Definitely worth picking up if you ever see it. See the full review here

Nick Upton of The Book Review Blog wrote: …  incredible characters and events strike the reader as insanity on the part of the author. However, if insanity it is, this is the type that gives birth to great achievements and in examining so many themes such as society, religion and environment, this book can be considered a great achievement. Jessa L of Vera’s Luxury Reading wrote: The Seven Gifts That Came to Earth is probably the most enjoyable book I have read in a long time. I enjoyed the face value of each tale, but found myself re-reading each story to see if I could see what was beneath the surface before the boy figured it out with the guidance of the Angel. Sarah Duncan of The Book Bee wrote: … takes the reader on a journey and each story has a valuable lesson to learn. … everyone will take something away from this novel, that will stay with them for a long time.  … a brilliant read that I recommend that everyone reads.  See her full review here
