Such a delightfully different quirky book. It leaves the reader to make of it what he/she wants. I found myself putting this book down after each individual gift, so that I could ponder about it before proceeding on to the next chapter. Congratulations John – this is a book that must be shared.

I was given these comments over the phone: Jennie from England : … Brilliant but bizarre; nice titles to chapters; a modern Aesop’s Fables; beautiful script; written by an odd-minded philosopher; the technical details of seamanship are surreal; a cross between Hans Christian Anderson and The Magic Roundabout.

Nice one, Bobbie. Reminds me of something I read recently in a spiritual context about being warm and kind to everyone you meet as you never know who they really are.

I had never heard of Ayn Rand until I saw this quote in someone’s signature. I liked it sufficiently to look her up and was surprised to discover that she had written some fascinating stuff many years ago that I somehow missed during my youth. I have now ordered her novel “Atlas Shrugged”, which according to some poll or other has reputedly influenced more Americans than any other book ever published, except for the Bible! As one who very rarely reads novels these days, I am looking forward to this one.

That is the theme in “Avatar” – if people are in your way, make them your enemy and then you can destroy them. Typical American GI Joe movie, but at least somebody over there ‘gets it’.
